What is DECT, and why do most aviation headsets use it?
DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) is a wireless transmission technology that transmits only audio over short distances. While DECT is the most common system, used by flightcoms like Globalsys and Ceotronics, other communication technologies are also gaining recognition on the market. This includes Mesh systems, or Full-Duplex systems like APPI.
Can the APPI system be used for other aviation operations, like deicing?
Yes, APPI Radio Transceivers can improve operations across many areas of the aviation industry, including deicing, tug and push-back, manufacturing, and maintenance. They can also be used as part of ground operations for helicopters, or by aerial rescue teams.
