MRO

MRO teams move between hangars, exterior stands, and aircraft interiors while performing noise intensive tasks. Shouting or relying on shared radios leads to delays and miscommunication, directly affecting safety and turnaround time.
Why our systems make a difference :
  • Improved safety through constant clear communication.
  • Faster inspections and repairs, reducing downtime.
  • Compatible with hearing protection in loud environments.

Assembly

Aircraft assembly requires teams to coordinate across different stations while using loud power tools and operating in tight or obstructed spaces. Distance, noise, and the need for hands free tool operation make traditional communication methods inefficient.
Benefits of our systems :
  • Reliable hearing protection and communication in noisy areas
  • Hands‑free operation for uninterrupted work
  • Better coordination between assembly stations

Push-Back

Ramp operations are loud and fast paced, with tug drivers, headset operators, and wing walkers needing constant coordination. Engine noise and PPE make spoken communication difficult, increasing the risk of errors.
Impact of APPI on your workflow :
  • Clear, continuous communication between all push‑back crew
  • Faster, smoother aircraft positioning
  • Reduced risk of miscommunication‑related incidents

Real-time, continuous conversation, no matter the environment.

Our intercoms allow crews to reduce errors, improve security, and speed up performance on MRO and ramp operations.

Frequently asked questions

Why are wireless systems the best choice for ground operations?

Wireless headsets offer complete freedom of movement around and inside the aircraft. Crew members have a permanent line of communication with wireless intercoms, even when not visible to each other, and therefore improving situational awareness and productivity on the ground.

How does the radio system keep its charge when airlines operate 24 hours a day?

Keeping a communication system in continuous service is an important part of an airline’s crew communications strategy. If an operator does not want to deal with additional backup radios, they can opt for a “com and charge” system, where each intercom is paired with an external battery for continuous charging.

What is DECT, and why do most aviation headsets use it?

DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) is a wireless transmission technology that transmits only audio over short distances. While DECT is the most common system, used by flightcoms like Globalsys and Ceotronics, other communication technologies are also gaining recognition on the market. This includes Mesh systems, or Full-Duplex systems like APPI.

Can the APPI system be used for other aviation operations, like deicing?

Yes, APPI Radio Transceivers can improve operations across many areas of the aviation industry, including deicing, tug and push-back, manufacturing, and maintenance. They can also be used as part of ground operations for helicopters, or by aerial rescue teams.
